Memorial 5k set for Oct. 8

The second John Glaser Memorial 5K Run/Walk is planned for Oct. 8, with runners and walkers launching from Shawnee Fire Station 71, 6501 Quivira Road, at 8 a.m. A kids run is planned for 9:15 a.m.
The event honors former Shawnee firefighter John Glaser, who died while fighting a house fire in May 2010. Proceeds benefit the John Glaser Memorial Fund and the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund, which supports families of first-responders who have died on the job.
