City Council filing begins; four incumbents to run
The filing period for candidates planning to run for City Council this spring began Monday and will continue through noon on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Four positions, one for each council ward, will be on the April 2 general election ballot, and a Feb. 26 primary election will be held if there are more than two candidates for any position.
The three incumbents up for re-election — Dan Pflumm in Ward 1, Jeff Vaught in Ward 3 and Michelle Distler in Ward 4 — all said they planned to file, and Vaught became the first to do so Monday. In addition, Ward 2 Councilman Alan Willoughby, who was appointed in July, has indicated he will run for election to the seat.
Filing forms are available at City Hall and the city’s website, cityofshawnee.org, which also contains more information on the filing process.
