‘Jaguar Jam’ to feature youth basketball scrimmages, benefit charitable organizations
Basketball will return a week early in the Mill Valley community. The Mill Valley basketball program and Breakthrough Basketball will play host to the Jaguar Jam, a youth scrimmage event on Dec. 28 that will benefit the Special Olympics of Kansas and Coaches vs. Cancer.
Boys basketball teams in third- through sixth-grade are invited to register for scrimmages on Mill Valley High courts with current Jaguars players serving as officials.
Sixth-graders will scrimmage from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by fifth-graders from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and third- and fourth-graders from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Mill Valley boys team will follow with a scrimmage of its own at 6:15 p.m. with an autograph session afterward, and an alumni scrimmage from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Coaches must register at breakthroughbasketball.com/kc/Jaguar-Jam-2012.html. A waiver release form must also be completed by all players ahead of time and can be found at breakthroughbasketball.com/camps/TraningWaiverRelease.pdf.
Concessions will be offered and teams, parents and community members are encouraged to make a small donation to support the Special Olympics of Kansas and Coaches vs. Cancer Foundation.
