The city of Shawnee will once again offer improvement grants to downtown property owners in 2013.

A total of five $5,000 grants will be available for downtown property owners making at least $10,000 in exterior improvements to their properties during the year.

Only commercial properties are eligible, and some examples of eligible improvements include, but are not limited to, facade restoration, window replacement and masonry repair.

The application process will open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Property owners planning to make improvements during 2013 should come to City Hall, 11110 Johnson Drive, that day to submit an application, as applications will accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
