Pro lacrosse player to lead demonstration at nearby lacrosse store
Brian Karalunas, a long-stick midfielder for Major League Lacrosse's Long Island Lizards, will be in the area this weekend to lead a pro player demo at an area lacrosse store.
Karalunas will make an appearance from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Stickstop — 5907 Woodson, Mission — one of the area's first lacrosse and field hockey stores.
“The team from Stickstop has been instrumental in supporting lacrosse in these two growing lacrosse communities,” Karalunas said in a news release. “This is a great opportunity to interact with kids and hopefully leave them with some pointers to improve their game.”
Prior to being drafted to play in the MLL, Karalunas played for Villanova, where he received the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for the most outstanding senior student athlete in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.

Lacrosse has been a growing youth and high school sport in Johnson County in the last decade. This spring, a league is being offered by the Johnson County Parks and Recreation District for fourth- through eighth-graders.
