In response to client demand and new account growth, Shawnee’s Adaptive Software is expanding its office space and adding headcount.

The software technology startup recently added 1,000 square feet to its existing 2,000-square-foot facility at 6450 Vista Drive. The expansion brings an additional 10 jobs to the city over the next three years, bringing its employment to a total of 18.

Launched as a software provider to the pharmacy benefits management industry, Adaptive Software’s client base has increased along with the industry’s overall growth. The industry has experienced significant growth in recent years due to the increased need for pharmaceutical services, an aging population in the United States, regulatory requirements and changes from the healthcare legislation.

“Our clients’ needs are diverse and constantly changing. As our name indicates, our product can be adapted to their changing internal processes or requirements. And it is that flexibility that has driven our growth,” president Joe Layne said.

Adaptive is also expanding rapidly into the business process management market with its new product, Flowpoint. Flowpoint aims to continuously improve the routine internal processes for a variety of different business types.

“It helps a business streamline what they are already doing and cut out waste that can save time and capital,” vice president Keith Suter said.

With the expansion, Adaptive Software will be able to more quickly respond to client needs and expand customer accounts. Construction is almost complete, and hiring is currently taking place. The company is expected to hire software engineers and sales representatives. For more information on job opportunities, visit adaptivesoftware.com.

“Adaptive Software exemplifies the smart, entrepreneurial companies that make up Shawnee. Their growth gives hope to the rest of our community and region that the economic clouds are lifting and employment and spending are returning,” said Pat Daniels, Shawnee Economic Development Council chairman.

Economic development council staff partnered with the Kansas Department of Commerce and Point Commercial to assist Adaptive Software.
