SMNW speed camp returns
The second annual Cougar Speed Academy will take place this summer for athletes looking to improve their agility. Six sessions will be broken up into two divisions, the first for fifth- through eight-graders and the other for high school athletes.
The first session takes place June 18-22, and will focus on soccer. The second session will be hosted June 25-29 for people looking to work on their speed. The final session is July 9-13 for athletes across all sports to work on speed and agility.
Former Northwest football and track athlete Mark Fancher will work with track coach Mike Cooper during the camps, which cost $50 and include a T-shirt. For more information contact Cooper at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 913-993-7399.

Softball all-star game returns to Shawnee on Monday
Mill Valley softball coach Sarah Haub will join the coaching staff of the Kansas MO-KAN softball team for the annual all-star doubleheader at 5 p.m. June 11 at the Shawnee Mission School District Softball Complex, 6101 Maurer Road.
St. James Academy senior Kristin Lock will be among the 14 seniors representing Kansas.
Lock finished her senior season with a .500 batting average, six home runs, 40 hits and 39 runs batted in for the 16-7 Thunder.
Haub coached Mill Valley to a 20-3 record, highlighted by a 5A regional championship.
