Greta Garbo portrayal to kick off speaker series
A screen legend will be brought back to life next month when the Shawnee Town Museum kicks off its 2012 speaker series.
Performance artist Claudette Walker will portray Greta Garbo, offering the inside story of the film star from the beginning of Garbo’s career in 1924 to her retirement and seclusion in 1941.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the museum’s Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Drive.
The speaker series will run through October, with monthly events to include a look at Kansas during the Great Depression in June and a first person performance of Dwight D. Eisenhower in July. More information can be found at shawneetown.org.
