Sikhs invite community to enjoy parade, free food
The Shawnee Sikh community invites the general public to join it for a parade and other events associated with the faith’s annual Vaisakhi celebration.
The Vaisakhi Parade, held in Shawnee for more than 10 years, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Midwest Sikh Gurudwara (temple), 6834 Pflumm Road. From there, the procession will travel north on Pflumm Road, east on 67th Street, south on Quivira, west on 71st Street and north of Pflumm Road to the temple. The parade will feature floats, community performers and live music.
Following the parade, free authentic Punjabi food will be served at the temple. There also will be games and inflatables for children.
