The De Soto Arts Council will unveil a new arts center this weekend.

From 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, the arts council will welcome the public to the new venue in De Soto’s City Hall, 32905 W. 84th St., north entrance and lower level. The opening will take place in conjunction with the Light Up De Soto Christmas tree lighting.

Renovation of the arts center began in January and was managed by arts council volunteer Dick Stine. The new space was made possible by many volunteer hours by arts council members, the city of De Soto and a Creative Arts Industry Incentive Grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce, Creative Arts Industries Commission.

The new space will be a venue for regional artists to display their works, host quarterly exhibits and house classes and workshops beginning in January. For more info, visit desotoartsks.org.
