February 21, 2013
The predicted snowstorm has arrived and area students will stay home from school today
Both the Shawnee Mission and De Soto districts have canceled classes.
Officials with the Kansas Department of Transportation are urging others to stay home today, as well, if they can as the entire area is under a winter storm warning and roads are expected to become snowpacked quickly. The snow is expected to be heavy at times, with 10-15 inches of snowfall anticipated by 1 p.m. this afternoon.
Updated weather information throughout the day can be found at www.kandrive.org.
Other cancellations include the city of Shawnee municipal court. Additionally, the city of Shawnee reports that Deffenbaugh trash pickup will be suspended until tomorrow.
