Ellis fifth, Jaguars 16th at Newton wrestling tournament

Mill Valley’s Jake Ellis led all Jaguar wrestlers with a fifth-place finish at 145 pounds at the Newton Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Ellis was one of four Jaguars to place in the 50th annual tournament, and Mill Valley placed 16th out of 27 teams.
Landon Scott and Jake Gramke each placed sixth, doing so in the 106-pound and 195-pound brackets, respectively.
Bryan Burnett placed seventh at 138 pounds after defeating Newton’s Jared Tallent. The Jaguars return to competition with a dual at Shawnee Heights on Wednesday.
