SM North’s production of ‘Putnam County Spelling Bee’ opens Thursday

The Shawnee Mission North theater department will stage “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” beginning Thursday, Jan. 17.
The Tony Award-winning musical, during which audience members have the chance to participate, follows a group of quirky spelling bee competitors and the equally quirky adults who are overseeing the event.
The production will run at 7 p.m. Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 24-26, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee Jan. 26. Tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for those in eighth-grade and under, can be purchased at the door.
