Rotary accepting scholarship applications

The Shawnee Rotary Club is now accepting applications for its 2013 community service scholarships.

Three scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to qualifying high school seniors who either reside in the city of Shawnee or who attend a public or private school there. The scholarships may be used at the post-secondary school of the student’s choice, though they need not be used in the 2013-2014 school year. Each scholarship will be paid directly to the school after the student has enrolled.

Applications will be judged by club members, and family members of Rotarians are not eligible. Winners of the scholarships will be guests at the club’s Friday breakfast meeting April 5.

Applications are available from school counselors and on the club’s website, shawneerotary.org, under Projects and Service. Applications can also be obtained by contacting Calvin McBride at 913-432-9691 or ctmcbride@kc.surewest.net. Completed applications should be sent to McBride at 10112 W. 70th St., Merriam KS 66203, postmarked or hand-delivered no later than March 2.
