Shawnee City Council pays tribute to Nick Pflumm at meeting
The Shawnee City Council remembered a member of the Shawnee Planning Commission at Monday’s meeting.
Planning Commissioner Nick Pflumm, 54, died Sunday.
He first was appointed to the planning commission in 1999 and was elected secretary of the committee in July 2007. He also served the community through the Shawnee Downtown Partnership, Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and Shawnee Convention and Visitors Bureau. In the past he has served as a lieutenant for the Shawnee Volunteeer Fire Department, the historical committee for Old Shawnee Town and assisted with the Old Shawnee Days parade.
“I am saddened by Nick’s passing,” Mayor Jeff Meyers said in an online posting on the city’s web page. Nick was an exceptionally dedicated and effective planning commissioner. We will miss him immensely.”
Council member Dan Pflumm, a cousin to Nick Pflumm, thanked the city for the kind words posted on its site during Monday’s council meeting.
