Mill Valley track teams take 2nd at Olathe Invite
The Mill Valley boys and girls track and field teams both finished second at the Olathe Invitational on Friday, a meet in which they were the only Class 5A teams competing.
The Lady Jaguars were led by Kasey Meeks, who took first place in the 300-meter hurdles (48.90) and the long jump (16-07.50). Other first-place finishers included Holly Webb in the 100-meter hurdles (15.86), Madison Holland in the discus (110-01.00) and Megan Eckman in the high jump (5-02.00).
Ellie Wilson was the lone second-place finisher, clocking in at 1:01.12 in the 400-meter dash. Individual third-place finishers included Morgan Thomas in the javelin (107-04.00) and the long jump (16-07.50) and Webb in the triple jump (32-06.50). The Lady Jaguars’ 4x400- and 4x800-meter relay teams also took third place with times of 4:15.15 and 10:34.66, respectively.
Fourth-place finishers included Taylor Corbitt in the pole vault (9-00.00) and the triple jump (32-06.00) and Gabby Hopkins in the shot put (35-07.50). Mill Valley’s 4x100-meter relay team also took fourth with a time of 51.94.
Fifth-place finishers included Webb in the 300-meter hurdles (51.09), Thomas in the high jump (5-00.00) and Hopkins in the javelin (99-09.00).
The Mill Valley boys were led by Kurt Loevenstein, who took first place in the 1,600- and 800-meter run events with times of 4:27.11 and 1:57.47, respectively. Other first-place finishers included Tai Nguyen in the 100-meter dash (11.21) and Colton Bray in the pole vault (14-06.00).
Second-place finishers included Cody Deas in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles (15.90, 41.68), Derek Meeks in the 1,600- and 800-meter run events (4:29.67, 1:59.03) and Colby Sirivangxay in the triple jump (41-02.50).
Fourth-place finishers included Chase Midyett in the 110-meter hurdles (16.46), Nguyen in the 200-meter dash (23.30) and Connor Kaifes in the discus (132-04.00). Midyett also took fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles (44.58).
Mill Valley’s 4x800-meter relay team took third with a time of 8:37.34, and the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams took fifth with times of 44.38 and 3:34.19, respectively.
