Shawnee Chamber names Ron Freyermuth Citizen of the Year

Ron Freyermuth has seen Shawnee grow and change like not many can say they have. Not only has he worked for the city for 30 years, but his father, Ralph Freyermuth, was a city council member in the 1960s. As the city’s Public Works director, Freyermuth oversaw a lot of that change and his work over his career and within the last year was honored Saturday night at the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner by being named the 2014 Shawnee Citizen of the year.

Woman arrested after allegedly hitting officer with car door, seven mile car chase

A woman is in police custody after hitting an officer with her open car door in the Shawnee Hy-Vee parking lot and then leading officers on a nearly seven-mile car chase early Wednesday.
