SM North boys move up in KBCA state rankings; SM Northwest girls hold steady

After a monumental home victory over Olathe East on Friday, the Shawnee Mission North boys were the biggest local movers in the latest state rankings from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.
The Indians (10-4, 3-2 in Sunflower League play) moved from No. 9 up to No. 6 in the Class 6A rankings, preceded only by Wichita East, Lawrence, Olathe North, Manhattan and Blue Valley North.
Wichita South, Derby, Kansas City Wyandotte and Olathe East, previously ranked No. 5, rounded out the top 10. Shawnee Mission North defeated the Hawks 63-61 on Friday and will travel to take on Lawrence Free State at 7 tonight.
The Shawnee Mission Northwest girls, meanwhile, held steady at No. 4 in the Class 6A rankings. The Lady Cougars (10-3, 6-1 in Sunflower League play) are coming off a 63-38 victory over Lawrence Free State on Friday and will travel to take on Lawrence at 5:30 tonight.
Washburn Rural, Manhattan, Free State, Olathe East, Hutchinson and Shawnee Mission West rounded out the top 10.
