Ray Marsh student recognized nationally for photograph
A Shawnee student has earned an Award of Merit from the National PTA Reflections contest.
Sophia Boshart, a student at Ray Marsh Elementary School, earned the award in the contest’s primary division for a photography entry titled “Happy Heart.”
The National PTA Reflections program encourages art learning in school districts. For the Reflections contest, students across the country submit original works in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts based on the year’s given theme. The 2014-15 theme was “The World Would Be a Better Place If …”
“The Shawnee Mission school district was represented by amazingly talented artists this year,” said Kim Benner, Shawnee Mission area council PTA Reflections chair. “Numerous entries moved through the state competition and onto the national competition. Please join me in congratulating these students for their hard work, talent and enthusiasm.”
