Mill Valley girls take second at KVL swimming
The Mill Valley girls swimming team captured a runner-up finish at the Kaw Valley League championships on Wednesday evening, finishing with a total of 76 points.
Lansing (86 points) won the league title, and Turner (48), Piper (46), Bonner Springs (35), Tonganoxie (10) and De Soto (0) rounded out the field.
The Lady Jaguars were led by their 200-yard freestyle relay team, which took first place with a time of 1:56.20. That team was comprised of Claudia Meredith, Jennifer Sims, Alexis Medina and Vicki Robinson.
Second-place finishers for Mill Valley included Meredith in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.58) and Sherry McLeod in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.63). The Lady Jaguars’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Medina, McLeod, Elaina Bartlow and Jordan Robinson took second place with a time of 4:24.32.
Mill Valley’s third-place finishers included Jordan Robinson in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:21.92) and Vicki Robinson in the 200-yard individual medley (2:45.15) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.78). The Lady Jaguars’ 200-yard medley relay team of McLeod, Vicki Robinson, Bartlow and Meredith took third with a time of 2:09.35.
Fourth-place finishers included Bartlow in the 200-yard individual medley (2:48.14), McLeod in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.87), Jordan Robinson in the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.10), and Sims in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.25) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.13).
Medina and Megan Pastine took fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.29) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.80), respectively. Sixth-place finishers included Meredith in the 50-yard freestyle (28.02), Bartlow in the 100-yard butterfly (1:18.34) and Maddie Sprenger in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.94).
