The St. James Academy boys golf team qualified for state with a third-place finish at the Class 5A regional tournament at Heritage Park Golf Course on Monday, finishing with a score of 319.
The Thunder were preceded only by regional champion St. Thomas Aquinas (311) and runner-up Blue Valley West (316). Mill Valley finished fourth with a score of 329.
St. James was led by Jack Reilly, who fired a round of 78 to finish sixth. Will Wilk (78), Corbin Befort (81) and Cole Stelzer (81) rounded out the Thunder’s state-qualifying team.
While Mill Valley did not qualify as a team, Ben Hadden (77), Jalen Oehlert (82) and Matt Bahle (84) qualified as individuals.
The Class 5A state golf championships will be played on Tuesday, May 26, at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton.
