De Soto boys soccer team advances to state
As most of the Kansas City area was still celebrating a Royals World Series victory on Tuesday night, the De Soto boys soccer team was busy advancing to the Class 4-1A state tournament with 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Kansas City Christian.
Andrew Dowdy got the scoring started for the Wildcats (16-3), finding the back of the net in the first half. Austin Culver then made the score 2-0 with a goal in the second half to seal the victory.
The Wildcats will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday as they travel to Towanda-Circle High School for the state tournament. They will take on Wichita-Trinity (13-4-2) in the semifinals. If De Soto advances, it will take on the winner between Rose Hill (18-0-1) and Spring Hill (16-3).
