Jags, Lady Jags take second place at Seaman

The Mill Valley cross country program had a strong showing at the Topeka Seaman Invitational on Saturday at the Shawnee North Community Center, as both the boys and girls teams came away with second-place finishes.

The boys team scored a total of 59 points, preceded in the standings by only Olathe East (33). De Soto (102), Leavenworth (102) and Seaman (106) rounded out the top five. Eight schools competed in the event.

The Jaguars were led by senior Garret Fields, who took third place with a time of 16:19.20. Senior Derek Meeks (fifth place, 16:27.60), sophomore Tyler Coad (16th, 16:52.10), sophomore Justin Grega (17th, 16:57.20) and junior Max Jones (18th, 16:57.60) rounded out the Mill Valley point scorers.

The De Soto boys were led by senior Luis Murillo, who finished eighth with a time of 16:35.90. Senior Travis Hodge (15th, 16:50.30), junior Taylor Ramseyer (23rd, 17:17.60), sophomore Ke’mana Ka’anapu (25th, 17:26.80) and sophomore Andre Vanmeerhaeghe (37th, 17:58.30) rounded out the Wildcats’ point scorers.

The Mill Valley girls finished second with a score of 72, preceded by only in the standings by Olathe East (28). Seaman (87), Leavenworth (116) and De Soto (139) rounded out the top five. Nine schools competed in the event.

The Lady Jaguars were led by senior Ellie Wilson, who took 1oth place with a time of 19:57.60. Sophomore Britton Nelson (12th, 20:03.20), senior Amber Akin (13th, 20:11.00), junior Anna Clayborn (17th, 20:40.20) and freshman Delaney Kemp (20th, 20:49.00) rounded out the Mill Valley point scorers.

The De Soto girls were led by sophomore Gabby Collins, who took second place with a time of 19:17.30. Junior Bri Jenson (29th, 21:37.70), senior Jaycie Thaemert (33rd, 21:58.10), sophomore Mariah Grizzle (41st, 22:32.00) and freshman Alyssa Perry (46th, 22:53.90) rounded out the Lady Wildcats’ point scorers.
