Volleyball Roundup: SJA sweeps Bonner Springs
The St. James Academy volleyball team captured a straight-set road victory over Bonner Springs on Thursday evening, defeating the homestanding Lady Braves 25-11, 25-10, 25-12.
The Lady Thunder — currently ranked No. 2 in the country by PrepVolleyball.com and No. 4 by MaxPreps — improved to 30-1 this season with the win.
St. James will be back in action at 5 p.m. on Thursday as it travels to Blue Valley West for a triangular match against BV West and Shawnee Mission East.
Mill Valley tops De Soto
Mill Valley captured a four-set victory over visiting De Soto on Thursday evening, taking down the Lady Wildcats 18-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 in a closely-contested match.
The Lady Jaguars will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday as they travel to take on Kaw Valley League rival Bonner Springs. De Soto, meanwhile, will also be back on the court Tuesday with a 6:30 p.m. home match against Frontier League foe Ottawa.
MCA falls to Lone Jack
Maranatha Christian Academy fell to Lone Jack (Mo.) on the road on Thursday evening, losing the three-set match 26-24, 25-21, 14-25. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they participate in the Atchison tournament.
SM Northwest drops two
Shawnee Mission Northwest lost two matches on Thursday night, falling to SM South (25-12, 25-22) and Olathe Northwest (25-11, 25-5). The Lady Cougars will be back in action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday as they travel to Olathe East.
