Mix of returners, newcomers take the mat for SM North wrestling

After the dynamic Shawnee Mission North wrestling trio of Joe Steve, Cesar Salgado and Nick Carson graduated in the spring, only Alonso Salgado remained as the lone returning state qualifier for the Indians. While SM North coach Tom Peterman has high hopes for the younger Salgado, he is also optimistic about the overall future of the program. Hocker Grove Middle School wrestling coach Joshua Meigs has joined Peterman and SM North assistant Conan McCormack on the coaching staff, and Peterman said he will be a valuable addition.

Shawnee Mission North girls basketball coach Brian McIntosh will be sending a whole new starting five out on to the court when the Indians take on Blue Valley West Saturday in their season opener. McIntosh fully realizes that it will be a process to settle on a rotation of players after graduating seven seniors from last season, but he isn’t changing his core principles.
