MV, SJA, DHS swimmers compete at Lansing Relays
Lansing The Mill Valley, St. James Academy and De Soto boys swim teams placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, Saturday at the Lansing Relays.
The Jaguars, Thunder and Wildcats all earned two top-three finishes.
Mill Valley placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and third in the 200-yard butterfly relay. Garrison Fangman, Colby Beggs, Carter Lawson and Chris Sprenger teamed up for a state-consideration time of 1:42.99 in the 200 free relay. The same foursome clocked in at 1:50.89 in the 200 fly relay.
The highlight of the meet for Mill Valley, though, came in the 200-yard medley relay. Sprenger, Fangman, Lawson and Beggs posted a state-qualifying time of 1:53.15, which was good for fifth place.
Finishing right in front of the Jaguars in fourth in the 200 medley relay was the St. James team of Anderson Maginn, Zach Kurland, Kyle Banash and Nick Callahan with a time of 1:49.36.
The Thunder added third-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke relays. Andy Maginn, Zach Kurland, Nick Callahan and Carter Schmidt came in with a time of 2:03.52 in the 200 backstroke relay. Callahan and Kurland were joined by Ryan Jones and Kyle Banash in the 100 freestyle relay, and finished with a time of 44.34.
De Soto was led by Cameron Webb, Jason Leuenberg, Andre VanMeerhaeghe and Jarod Blazo. The quartet of Wildcats placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, and earned a state-consideration time of 3:53.43. The same four Wildcats clocked in at 4:30.34 to finish third in the 400-yard medley relay.
