St. James Academy’s girls basketball team dropped back to the .500 mark Tuesday after a 47-23 loss to Wellsville in the semifinals of the Eudora Invitational.

After a down-to-the-wire win against Shawnee Mission West on Friday, SM Northwest’s boys basketball was riding high into its home opener Tuesday against Mill Valley. The Cougars had the added excitement of donning their new home uniforms against the Jaguars, and they continued their winning ways with a 51-44 victory.
SMNW girls hoops holds off Mill Valley, 36-31

Shawnee Mission Northwest’s girls basketball team shot a perfect 13 for 13 from the free-throw line to hold off Mill Valley for a 36-31 win over the Jaguars. Emmalee Rose scored a game-high 13 points, and knocked down all eight of her attempts from the charity stripe. Evan Zars matched Rose at the line, and led Mill Valley with 10 points.
