Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership Class of 2016 announced

The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Steering Committee have announced the Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership class of 2016. The class is comprised of 13 people who live and/or work in the Shawnee area.

The class includes: Tanner Banion of General Services Administration, Teia Blanchfield of Shawnee Mission Health, Gena Borden of Bayer HealthCare Animal Health, Lisa Carpenter of Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Gary Davidson of Bank of Blue Valley, Jesse Dull of McCownGordon Construction, Jackie Harwig of KVC Kansas, Cynthia Moeller-Krass of the city of Shawnee, Heather Ledbetter of JE Dunn Construction, Terry Murphy-Latta of Johnson County Community College, Charlie Pautler of the city of Shawnee and Shawnee Town 1929, Bryan Rapp of American Family Insurance and John Wills of State Farm Insurance.

The Shawnee Tomorrow program is a series of eight educational sessions covering a spectrum of issues in Shawnee. The program sessions begin in January and are held approximately every two weeks culminating with graduation in June 2016. The participants will be introduced to civic leaders, government officials, educators and experts from a variety of fields. Participants also develop an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships and complexities of the community.

The 2015 Leadership Steering Committee is chaired by Kevin Makalous of Edward Jones. Committee members include Dana Blubaugh of Pittsburg State University, Karen Boyd of the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, Devran Brower of The Halcyon Group, Danielle Browning of KCP&L, Rob Dinneen of BE Smith, Wade Kordonowy of HCA Midwest, Tonya Lecuru of the city of Shawnee, Jean Nelson of Porter Funeral Homes & Crematory, Jim Neighbor of the city of Shawnee, Kevin Vining of the city of Shawnee and Mary Taylor of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce.

Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership was founded in 1989 by the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the program is to create awareness, appreciation and action in the Shawnee community and to develop individuals to assume leadership roles within the Shawnee community, Johnson County, the state of Kansas and beyond.
