Two Johnson County Subway restaurants robbed Monday evening

January 26, 2016

Shawnee Police are investigating after the Subway Restaurant at 10405 West 75th Street was robbed Monday evening.

Major Dan Tennis says the robbery occurred at about 7:25 p.m.

"There were two suspects, a male and a female," Tennis said. "The male had a small handgun."

The suspects took cash and left in a vehicle. The clerk told police the vehicle was possibly a Dodge Charger. Tennis says the clerk did not have a clear view of the vehicle and could not provide a color other than it being dark.

"The surveillance video is poor and won't be released at this time since it does not show a clear view of either suspect," Tennis said.

Olathe Police are also investigating the robbery of a Subway in their city. A news release from Olathe Police says officers were called to the Subway at 13507 South Mur-Len Road at 9:26 p.m.

Sergeant Bryan P. Hill of the Olathe Police Department says the 20-year-old male clerk advised that a black male and a black female entered the store together.

"The female brought items to the register to purchase when the black male displayed a handgun and demanded money," Sgt. Hill said.

Olathe's suspects are described as a black male, 35-45 years of age, 5'8"-6' tall, wearing a black jacket and black pants. The female was described as being 35-45 years of age, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. Both suspects left on foot.

Major Tennis tells Operation 100 News, "it is likely they are connected. We are working with Olathe PD on the investigation."

No injuries were reported in either robbery.
