PTAs offer forum with Shawnee-area candidates
The PTAs for Rhein Benninghoven and Mill Creek elementary schools have teamed up to organize a candidate forum later this month involving candidates for Kansas House, Senate, and Board of Education seats in the Shawnee Mission Northwest High School area.
The forum is scheduled for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 16 at the SM Northwest cafeteria, 12701 W. 67th St. Candidates for districts covering at least a portion of Shawnee include Senate district 10, House districts 17, 18 and 23, and State Board of Education district 2. Organizers said that as of Wednesday, all but four of the 16 candidates had confirmed they would attend. Two of those are from districts covering Shawnee: Mary Pilcher Cook, Republican incumbent for Senate district 10, and Brett Hildabrand, Republican incumbent for House district 17.
Kyle Palmer, newscaster and reporter with KCUR, will moderate the event.
