Olathe woman arrested after causing two crashes on Shawnee Mission Parkway
Shawnee police say a 22-year-old Olathe woman caused two crashes on Shawnee Mission Parkway around 9:15 Sunday evening.
The woman was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra in the eastbound lanes of Shawnee Mission Parkway.
"The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a vehicle stopped at the red light on Shawnee Mission Parkway at Pflumm," Major Dan Tennis said.
Tennis says the suspect vehicle left the scene of the Pflumm crash and continued eastbound on Shawnee Mission Parkway, where the same driver failed to stop at a red light at Quivira. In the intersection, the same car struck a vehicle that was turning from westbound Shawnee Mission Parkway onto southbound Quivira.
"The striking vehicle was disabled and caught fire," Maj. Tennis said. "The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured and was arrested at the scene, processed and released after receiving a notice to appear in municipal court."
The woman faces municipal charges for hit-and-run and failing to stop at an injury accident or property damage greater than $1,000.
Tennis says no one was injured in the crash at Pflumm and minor injuries were reported at the Quivira crash.
