Donations being accepted for Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund
The city of Shawnee is asking residents to consider pledging support to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund.
Ornaments, which will be placed on the Mayor’s Christmas Tree, are being sold for $5.
The fund will benefit two organizations this year.
The Shawnee Lions Club plans to use the money to buy a vision screener that will be used in local schools to check hundreds of kids for possible eye conditions.
Rebuilding Together Shawnee will use its share to help even more local residents who need repairs on their homes.
The tree will be in the lobby at City Hall and will be on display during the Christmas Around Town celebration for the annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting.
The ornaments for the tree have been handmade by children in the Shawnee community. Your name will be printed on each ornament you purchase.
