Shawnee Mission Northwest's volleyball team defeated Olathe South (25-21, 25-23) before giving Olathe Northwest a run for its money in a three-set loss (23-25, 25-11, 25-15) Thursday in its home triangular.

The Cougars carried momentum into their match against the Ravens, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 6A. The Ravens clinched the Sunflower League title with the victory.

The Jaguars lost to the No. 8-ranked Tigers in straight sets (25-23, 25-22).

Mill Valley will compete in De Soto's Spikefest tournament Saturday.
