Volleyball roundup: Maranatha sweeps Sherwood; SM North earns first win

The Maranatha Christian Academy volleyball team coasted to a sweep of Sherwood, 25-12, 31-29, 25-9, on Monday. Shawnee Mission North rolled to its first victory of the season against Highland Park at the Topeka High triangular. The Indians swept the Scots in straight sets, 25-11, 25-8.

The Mill Valley and Shawnee Mission Northwest golf teams placed fifth and seventh, respectively, at the Shawnee Mission East Invitational on Monday at Indian Hill Country Club. Mill Valley senior Bella Hadden was the top Shawnee area finisher after shooting a round of 82, which was good for fourth place.
De Soto tennis goes 2-0-1 at home quad against future league foes

The De Soto tennis team got a glimpse of what it will be like to compete in the United Kansas Conference next year at its home quadrangular on Monday. The Wildcats went 2-0-1 against their future league foes, as they swept Lansing and Shawnee Heights and split their matches with Leavenworth.
De Soto soccer mounts big comeback before falling to Free State in OT

The De Soto soccer team erased two two-goal deficits on Monday against Free State and eventually took the lead after a goal from Andrew Goodman with 11 minutes left, but the Firebirds prevailed for a 5-4 overtime victory. Ethan Rodriguez, Daniel Apple and Carson Brier also scored for the Wildcats.
