Ross leads SMNW gymnastics to Viking Meet title

Shawnee Mission Northwest senior Hallie Ross won the bars, vault and floor exercise to be named the all-around champion and lead the Cougars to first place at the Viking Meet on Tuesday at SM West. Junior Zoe Kopp added a first-place finish in bars, and was the all-around runner-up. De Soto’s Molly Stack, who competes for SM Northwest, finished fourth in the all-around. Shawnee Mission North senior Kiersten Preckel placed sixth in the all-around to lead the Indians to third place.
De Soto volleyball defeats Louisburg in straight sets

The De Soto volleyball team earned its second win over Louisburg in the past week on Tuesday. De Soto triumphed over Louisburg, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22, after also defeating its Frontier League foe in the Lansing Invitational semifinals on Saturday.
Court discipline key for SM North volleyball

For the Shawnee Mission North volleyball team, the key to success is pretty simple — focus on what the team can do to get better and not who is playing on the other side of the net. Shawnee Mission North coach Crystal Foss saw her team do just that on Monday in its first win of the season over Highland Park. Foss saw her team execute well for segments of each set when the Indians returned to Sunflower League play against SM West on Tuesday, but SM North could not push past the Vikings.

Soccer roundup: De Soto rallies past Louisburg in OT; Maranatha shuts out Summit Christian

De Soto mounted a second-half charge for the second straight night, but came out on the winning end on Tuesday after edging Louisburg, 3-2, in overtime. Maranatha Christian Academy earned its first win of the season by shutting out Summit Christian, 4-0. Mill Valley suffered its first loss of the season in a 2-1 setback in double overtime against St. Thomas Aquinas. Shawnee Mission Northwest couldn’t keep pace with SM East in a 3-1 loss to the Lancers. Shawnee Mission North was unable to slow down SM West in the second half of its 5-0 loss to the Vikings.
