As an eight-time major tournament champion, Kansas City, Mo. native Tom Watson is well-known not only for his success on the golf course, but how he has remained humble while attaining it. While Watson is still competing on the PGA Champions Tour, the 68-year-old has made it a point throughout his career to make it possible for youth golfers to live out their dreams just like he has. Watson’s efforts in promoting youth golf brought him to Lake Quivira Country Club on Tuesday for the 19th annual “A Day for Kids” tournament and clinic, which is a fundraiser for The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.
MV’s Hadden, SJA’s Comer place in top 10 of Lawrence High Invitational

Mill Valley senior Bella Hadden and St. James sophomore Allison Comer both placed in the top 10 at the Lawrence High Invitational on Wednesday at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Hadden and Comer placed sixth and eighth, respectively, with rounds of 77 and 79. Shawnee Mission Northwest senior Cassie Gomer had a breakout round for the Cougars with a season-low score of 87 to tie for 26th place. Shawnee Mission North junior Katlyn Killeen was the low scorer for the Indians with a round of 105, which tied her for 78th place.
