Issa Sullivan and Carly Bodenhausen won the No. 1 doubles title to lead the De Soto tennis team to second place at the Bonner Springs Invitational. St. James senior Catherine Rieke was the singles champion at the Emporia Invitational to lead the Thunder to second place.

Shawnee Mission Northwest and SM North placed fifth and 14th, respectively, at the Sunflower League tennis tournament on Thursday. Shawnee Mission Northwest’s Lily Oliver and Michaela Crowe finished fifth and ninth, respectively, in the singles bracket.
Soccer roundup: Maranatha rolls past Heritage Christian

Maranatha earned its second straight victory with a 4-1 win over Heritage Christian on Thursday. Josh Peacher, Mitchell Peacher, Jax Holland and Aaron Bowlin scored for the Eagles. Shawnee Mission Northwest was unable to notch its second win over SM West in a 2-1 loss to the Vikings. Shawnee Mission North could not slow down Olathe Northwest in a 7-0 loss to the Ravens. Daniel Apple scored in the seventh minute to give De Soto an early lead, but it was all Blue Valley Southwest after that in an 11-1 win for the Timberwolves.

In just its second home match of the year, the St. James Academy volleyball team put on a show for the Thunder faithful with a sweep of Bishop Miege on Thursday in SJA’s Lemon Out. Shawnee Mission Northwest bounced back from two losses at its home triangular on Tuesday with a four-set victory over Olathe East at SMNW. Mill Valley picked up wins over Ottawa and Emporia to post a 2-0 record at the Emporia triangular. Maranatha did not drop a set en route to going 3-0 at its home quad with wins over Turner, Kansas City Christian and Bishop Ward. Shawnee Mission North suffered a three-set loss to SM South.
Police: Woman injured and gun fired during disturbance.

Shawnee Police are investigating after a disturbance ended with a female injured in the street and a gun being fired into the ground late Thursday night.
