The Shawnee Mission Northwest and SM North wrestling teams placed second and fourth, respectively, at the Shawnee Mission District Duals on Friday at SM North.
The Cougars defeated SM North, 54-21; SM East, 46-31, and SM South, 45-30. Northwest's lone loss came against eventual champion SM West in a 39-37 setback.
Junior Charles Brockmann picked up his 100th career victory after going 4-0 with two wins by fall and two by major decision. Senior Jerad Habben went 3-0 with three wins by fall, and now has 97 pins for his career.
Gabe Arreguin, Julian Gutierrez, Andrew Reid and Alvin Horner all earned two wins for the Cougars. Bret Summers and Colby Johnston rounded out the Cougars who won a match, as they both helped SM Northwest defeat SM South.
The Indians posted a record of 1-3. North defeated SM South, 42-36, behind wins by fall from Aidan Randall and Jeffrey Downey. Alonso Salgado led the Indians with three wins — all coming by decision.
Salgado won a 7-3 decision in the Indians' 53-23 loss to the Vikings. Downey also won by decision, 7-3, and Tanner Willmon won by tech fall, against the Vikings.
Salgado won a 7-3 decision in SM North's 46-24 loss to SM East. Justus Hulse added an 8-2 win by decision against the Lancers.
Zach Jordan led the Indians in their loss to the Cougars with a win by fall. Salgado chipped in a 4-1 win by decision.
The Vikings won the district duals with a record of 4-0. The Lancers took third after going 2-2 and the Raiders finished fifth with a record of 0-4.
