Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA recognizes ‘Reflections’ winners

February 20, 2018

The Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA recently hosted an open house at the SM West Art Gallery.

At the open house, Shawnee Mission students were honored for their imagination, creativity and interpretation of the theme, “Within Reach,” in the 2017-18 PTA Reflections program.

Students and families viewed exhibits of artwork, literature and photography and listened to musical entries submitted by student artists. The event also featured film and dance performances by student honorees in an adjacent media lab.

SMAC PTA received 100 entries, elementary, middle and high school students across the Shawnee Mission School District. These winners will now compete in the Kansas State competition.

Here are the Shawnee area winning entries:

Film production, primary division: “Good Prevails” by Gabriel Mathew, Broken Arrow

Literature, high school division: “My Best Friends” by Katerina Brockmann, SM Northwest

Photography, primary division: “Reach for Love” by Josie Pflumm, Ray Marsh
