SMNW bowling sweeps triangular at Park Lanes
Shawnee Mission Northwest seniors Travis Morrison and Alaina Burris led the Cougars to a sweep of Thursday's triangular at Park Lanes with first-place individual finishes.
Morrison rolled a three-game series of 638, while teammate Austin Anderson was just four pins back in second. Morrison started off strong with a Game 1 total of 244 before finishing with scores of 191 and 203 in Games 2 and 3. Anderson got better throughout the triangular with scores of 184, 223 and 227.
Preston Wilson (fourth place, 600 series), Garrett Bolin (seventh, 552), Kyle Cunningham (eighth, 550) and Clayton Engelby (16th, 479) rounded out the Cougars' first-place squad.
The Cougars posted a team series of 2,451. Olathe Northwest and Olathe North followed in second and third with respective scores of 2,327 and 2,207.
Burris led a trio of Cougars who placed in the top five of the girls triangular. The SM Northwest senior posted scores of 263, 144 and 149 to finish with a 556 series. Hadley Sayers and Cheyenne Bolin joined Burris in the top five with respective series scores of 517 and 501. Emma Reinke (447 series), Charlie Queral (436) and Emilia Battles (420) completed the Cougars' first-place team.
The SM Northwest girls finished with a team series of 2,037 to edge Olathe North by 31 pins for first place. Olathe Northwest was third with a series of 1,730.
Since the first meet of the season for the SM Northwest girls was postponed due to inclement weather, they will be back in action today for the all-girls Free State Invitational at Royal Crest Lanes. The SM Northwest boys and girls will round out their busy end of the week at noon Saturday at Olathe Lanes East.
