Russell leads St. James in loss to Aquinas

Claudia Russell led the St. James girls basketball team again with 16 points, but it wasn’t enough to push the Thunder past St. Thomas Aquinas in a 64-40 loss to the top-ranked Saints. Sereena Weledji and Alayna Townsell scored 17 points apiece for the Saints. Weledji scored her 1,000th career point in the fourth quarter.

Bierbaum leads St. James girls bowling to first place at Park Lanes

St. James Academy’s girls bowling team won Monday’s triangular at Park Lanes with individual champion Meredith Bierbaum leading the way with a 523 series. Carey Lawrence and Marion Farnet also cracked the top five in second and fourth, respectively. Burk Schreiner rolled a seventh-place series of 538 to lead the St. James boys to second. Grant Huerter followed Schreiner in eighth place.
