St. James Academy finished second at the Shawnee Mission South quad on Tuesday. Mill Valley finished fourth out of seven teams at the Lawrence Invitational on Tuesday. The Mill Valley softball team swept Bishop Miege in a doubleheader on Tuesday. Shawnee Mission Northwest was swept by Olathe North. De Soto dropped two games against Paola. St. James suffered a sweep at the hands of BV Northwest. Shawnee Mission North fell to Olathe Northwest.

Shawnee Mission Northwest senior C.C. Ghilardi led the Cougars to first place at the Blue Valley North Invitational on Tuesday at Leawood Country Club with a winning round of 3-under-par 69. Joe Bultman was the runner-up after shooting even par 72.

The Mill Valley girls soccer team won its third straight match after blanking Bishop Miege, 2-0, on Tuesday. Peyton Wagoner and Payge Bush scored for the Jaguars. Shawnee Mission Northwest suffered a 1-0 loss to Free State. Maranatha Christian Academy lost for the first time this season after falling to Summit Christian, 2-1. Debra Zuniga scored the goal for Maranatha. Shawnee Mission North was unable to keep pace with SM South in a 9-0 loss to the Raiders.

The St. James Academy baseball team rallied past St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday for a 5-4 victory at Kauffman Stadium. Charlie Miller ripped a two-run double to give the Thunder the lead in the fourth inning. Mill Valley lost the lead late in a 6-3 loss to Bishop Miege.

The Mill Valley boys golf team placed four golfers in the top 11 to win the Loch Lloyd Invitational on Monday. Nick Mason finished as the runner-up with a round of 73. Frankie Failoni rounded out the top 20 with a round of 82 to lead St. James to eighth place. Denver Morris-Lovell fired a round of 88 to lead De Soto to a fifth-place finish at the Hayden Invitational at Shawnee Country Club in Topeka.

After play was suspended in the fourth inning on Friday between Mill Valley and Turner, the Jaguars hung on for an 8-7 victory when the game resumed on Monday despite a furious rally from the Golden Bears. De Soto split its doubleheader against Paola — winning Game 1, 7-1, and falling in the nightcap, 5-4. Shawnee Mission North’s Adrian Garcia and Olathe East’s Kyle McHale threw seven scoreless innings before the Hawks pushed across a run in the eighth for a 1-0 victory over the Indians. Van Horn scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to hand Maranatha a 4-3 loss. Shawnee Mission Northwest saw its three-game winning streak snapped after a 4-2 loss to SM South.

The St. James Academy girls lacrosse team suffered an 8-2 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday, which doubled as the Thunder’s senior night. Grace Wiley and Ellie Steere scored for the Thunder. St. James honored seniors Mary Feiden, Katie Burns, Natalee Davidson and Grace Crane after the match. Shawnee Mission was unable to keep pace with Notre Dame de Sion in a 12-6 loss to the Storm.

The De Soto, Maranatha Christian Academy and Mill Valley girls soccer teams both rolled to convincing victories on Monday. Mackenzie Mohl and Drayvhen Moore both had hat tricks in the Wildcats’ 12-0 win over Ottawa. A full recap of the Wildcats’ win over Ottawa will be posted later on Annika Pinter notched another hat trick in Maranatha’s 8-0 victory over Wyandotte. Adde Hinkle scored two goals to lead Mill Valley to a 5-1 win against Topeka Seaman. St. James suffered its second straight 1-0 loss after falling to Blue Valley Northwest. Shawnee Mission North led at halftime, but Basehor-Linwood scored three unanswered goals after the break to top the Indians, 3-1.

The Mill Valley, De Soto and St. James Academy girls swim and dive teams competed at the Timberwolf Invitational on Saturday at BVSW. Kayla Teasley won the 200-yard freestyle and took second in the 100-yard breaststroke to lead the Jaguars to fourth place. De Soto finished sixth behind top-five finishes in the 500-yard freestyle from Nicole and Liz Schottler. St. James followed in seventh place behind top-five finishes from Audrey Jones in the 50-and 100-yard freestyles. De Soto also won the Bonner Springs Invitational last week after winning seven different events — including all three relays.

The Shawnee Mission Northwest and SM North boys tennis teams placed third and fifth, respectively, at the SMSD meet on Saturday. Nam Pham didn’t drop a game in his three matches en route to a first-place finish at No. 1 singles to lead the Cougars. Luke Johnson (No. 3 singles) and Cameron Peck (No. 4 singles) paced SM North with a 3-1 records after placing second in their respective pools.

Shawnee Mission North freshman Anna Harrison tossed a one-hitter in her varsity debut to power the Indians to a 14-3 win over SM South at the Sunflower League Softball Festival. The Indians fell to Blue Valley Southwest, 13-2, in their other game at the Sunflower League Softball Festival.
