Overland Park police say they arrested a man they believe to be connected with the numerous burglaries of Great Clips hair salons around the Kansas City Metropolitan area, including Shawnee.

Shawnee’s Erfurt Park begins construction

A little bit of Germany will be in Shawnee after the completion of Erfurt Park. The sister city park begins construction this week and is modeled after Aga Park in Erfurt, Germany. The park’s shelters will have a unique European feel with tile roofing and wood borders. The park will also feature a flower garden that mimics a larger version in the German park, and will feature plants grown from seeds imported from Shawnee’s sister city.

Pflumm Road to close to traffic Aug. 26-28 for stormwater pipe repair

Pflumm Road between Johnson Drive and 57th Street will be closed beginning Tuesday, Aug. 26, as the City of Shawnee makes emergency repairs to a stormwater pipe. The road will remain closed through Thursday, Aug. 28.
