Services for Marie Ella Foster, 82, Merriam, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Amos Family Chapel, Shawnee. Burial will be at Clearfield Cemetery in Eudora.
Mrs. Foster died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Eudora, the daughter of Walter and Ella Brecheisen.
Mrs. Foster graduated from Eudora High School in 1945.
Mrs. Foster was active in the PTA and was a room mother for all of her children, as well as being a childcare provider for more than 50 years. She also was active with Louis Craig Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 18, Women’s Auxiliary, having held numerous positions including president.
She married Ira Thomas Foster Sr. on June 29, 1946. He died Nov. 13, 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Dahnke, Kansas City, Kan., Alice Belstner (Dennis), Shawnee, and Janet Wenze, Merriam; two grandsons; four granddaughters; two great granddaughters; and a sister, Eva Waggoner.
A son, Ira Jr., died earlier.
The family suggests memorials to Rosedale Congregational Church, 4326 Lloyd, Kansas City, KS 66103.

“We are all Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. My family won the best in family floats in Shawnee’s St. Patrick’s Day parade a few years back. We got to have a big trophy for the year. My sons love throwing out candy on the parade route.”
