Jerry Mann 1941 - 2008 Shawnee
Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry J. Mann, 66, Shawnee, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 21801 Johnson Drive. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mr. Mann lost his battle with cancer on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Norbert W. and Geraldine (Wagner) Mann.
Mr. Mann was employed with Western Electric, retiring in 1987. In 1973, he started Mann Sodding and Landscaping Co. He also enjoyed working at the Kansas City Racquet Club.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara; three daughters, Kristi Switzer and Molly Miller, both of Shawnee, and Gina Crawford, Olathe; a son, Dan, Florence, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Calvin, Stafford, Texas, and Barbara Sue Baney, Lincoln, Mo.; a brother, Norbert Mann, Granby, Mo.; and two beloved dogs "Killer" and "Chloe."
The family suggests memorials to either Cancer Action, 10520 Barkley St., Overland Park, KS 66212 or Catholic Charities Hospice, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102.
