Mary Van De Berghe 1931 - 2008 Lenexa

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Van De Berghe, 76, Lenexa, was Monday, June 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
Mrs. Van De Berghe died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Sweet Life of Rosehill.
She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Parkville, Mo., the daughter of Newman D. and M. Irene Nelson.
Some of Mrs. Van De Berghe's activities included volunteering for the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Leavenworth; she was a past officer, president, and member of Isadore Hoehn Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. and Belgium-American Club.
She married her husband John Edward Van De Berghe on April 11, 1953. He, a daughter, Christine, and a granddaughter died earlier.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherry A. Van De Berghe, Overland Park, Jacqueline S. Van De Berghe, Shawnee, and Kimberly J. Stanley, Eudora, Kan.; a son, Billy E. Van De Berghe, Shawnee; three brothers, N. Eugene Nelson, Platte City, Mo., Richard C. Nelson, Kearney, Mo., and R. Keith Nelson, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, M. Catherine Lemon, Clinton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
