Oren Franklin Bound 1940 - 2010 Shawnee

Services for Loren Franklin Bound, 70, of Shawnee, were Monday April 5, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Graveside services were Tuesday, April 6, at Resthaven-Sunset Memorial, Ponca City, Okla.
Mr. Bound died peacefully Friday, April 2, 2010, after a five-year battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Independence, Kan., the son of Mabel and Oren Bound.
Mr. Bound was reared in Ponca City.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965, spending time in Germany, which is where he made a lifelong friendship with Bill “Willy” Junes.
Mr. Bound began a career with Montgomery Ward and transferred with the company in 1970 to Kansas City, where he continued his employment as a regional merchandiser until 1983.  He ran his own business, J & L Minor Home Repair, from 1983 until 1999, when he was forced to retire due to health concerns.  In conjunction with his home repair business, he also taught various noncredit home repair courses from 1988-1999 for Johnson County Community College.  In 2006 he began working part-time at Barnett Brass Inc. in Lenexa. In 2009 he proudly completed the Citizens Police Academy at the Lenexa Police Department. 
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Naydne Bound; his mother, Mabel Parker, Farmington, N.M,; a sister, Betty (Larry) Bryant, Farmington; a son, Jim (Vivian) Bound, Hillsboro, Ohio; a daughter, Debby (Virgel) Stigall, Olathe; and four grandchildren.
