Longtime Jayhawk broadcaster Max Falkenstien basks in the glow of fans who came to sign his book last week at Naomi's Hallmark in Shawnee.
Turn of the century artifacts on display come from the Elsie Splear family farm in northern Illinois include some everyday items like a "flat-iron" and a "flatter," a tool for farm forage.
Andrew Moritz, 7 of Shawnee, shows off some of the books he read this summer to get to his goal of 400 books. He started out with a goal of reading 100 books to be like his cousin. Once Moritz reached his first goal, he kept increasing it for a challenge.
