All hands were on the llama at the petting zoo area of the Renaissance Festival Saturday, including 10-year old Emma Gaulke of Shawnee. Good weather prevailed throughout the opening Labor Day weekend attracting thousands of visitors.
Construction is still underway at the new Nieman Elementary school that is being built on the same site as the current Nieman Elementary. Students will move into the school in January and the old building will be demolished in the spring.
Nicholas Woods of Mill Valley escapes a Bishop Ward defender. Woods carried the ball 25 times Friday night for 198 yards.
Mark Mollentine has been one of Shawnee's biggest fans for a long time - now, he'll act in a more official role.
