Soapbox racing has been a family affair for 12-year-old Aaron Kennedy and his sister, 17-year-old Shannon. Both have made names for themselves in local and regional circuit races. They have dedicated some of their races in the memory of Kelsey Smith, a former Shawnee Mission West student and their cousin's best friend who was killed last year.

Absolutely. We wouldn’t be able to sit here and eat lunch like this if it weren’t for the veterans. We’ve got millions of people that fought and died to save this country; it should be more than a bank holiday.
